IMPLANTS

Implant is an artificial tooth root (radix dentis) which in many cases can be inserted usefully and serves as a traditional treatment in crown bridges and platings. It is inserted in the jaw bone into the gap of the missing natural tooth.

Implants can also stabilize traditional dentures or hold a bridge.

Implants have been used since 1960 for the replacement of tooth roots.

The use of implants is an appropriate solution for every patient without age limit.
Depending on the status of the jaw bone and maxilla and their hight, latitude and density or in case of other deseases there can be a restriction in the therapy.

Before the implantation the dentist should check everything thoroughly - the teeth, the gum and the parodontosis. The base is layed down here for cleaning and make up of the teeth and mouth.

IMPLANTSThe harder the bone is the more easily the implant fuses with the bone. In the jaw the bony structure is more consistent, therefore the implantation is easier here. In the maxilla, especially in the back parts implantation is more complicated.

Sinus augmentation ( Bone Graft):

Where there is not enough bone around the implant, dentists have developed an augmentation for lifting and strenghtening it. An artificial bonelike material is used. The implant fuses with the bone.

Sinus Lifting:
Sinus lifting is an operation in the jaw area. In many cases if the implant got in to the sphenoid sinus it would cause a disadentageous situtation. Therefore the dentist streghtens these areas with a bonelike material to lift the sphenoid sinus. So the implants can better fuse and lessens the possibility that germs get in the sphenoid sinus through the implant.

Advantages of implants:

  • The surrounding teeth remain untouched
  • The implant prevents from osteoporosis
  • Ensures strong bite
  • Talking and articulation remain unchanged

Disadvantage:
Not every patient and type of jaw bone structure is suitable for implantation.

Proven and long lasting:
Implantation is honoured in practice. The chance that the implant is operable after 5 years is 95 %. In the maxilla, the successful operation is 90 %.

Retention time during the implantation

  • During the first treating it has to be 2 days.
  • During the second treating, after 3-4 months of recovery, 7-10 days is needed till the handing over of the crowns or bridges.

Important cautions after implantation:

Have you received an implant by operation?
The biggest risk is during the first 3 months of recovery.

Take care of the following:

  • Don't smoke
  • Take care about thorough oral hygienie (mouthwashes, special cleaning brushes)
  • Beware of sports and heavy lifting
  • Keep the antibiotic treatment as it is prescribed
  • Don't touch the implant with your tongue or hand
  • Turn up on supervision dates
  •
